Cory Lidle’s Death is Boring News

BORING

The big news yesterday was that Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle died in a plane crash when he went into a building on Manhattan’s East Side.

As soon as I turned on ESPN I realized the reason I hate 24-hour cable news:  they never report anything new.  They talk about the same news over and over until something else breaks.  Watching cable news for new news is like waiting for a pot to boil.

I knew everything by clicking onto Drudge Report for two seconds.  As soon as we found out this wasn’t terrorism, it became a non-story.

Okay, the guy’s dead.  Never heard of him!  Don’t care!

Yes, it happened to a relatively prominent person (come on, no one heard of Cory Lidle who plays for the New York Jiggities), and yes, it happened in a prominent place (the same island as 9/11), but I don’t care!  In other news, a thousand other people died yesterday, people who didn’t have rocket fastballs and didn’t go around doing dumb things like running planes into Manhattan high-rises!

And in other other news, 6 billion around the globe remain alive today, due to their policy of not crashing planes into the middle of Manhattan.

It’s before 7:00 a.m. here, so my guess is by the time I turn on TV, they’ll still be talking about the crash, Yankees’ reactions, etc.  Even though the guy was only a Yankee for like 3 months.  He’d have to be Buddha to really have an effect on their lives.

Plus, baseball’s gay.
