Ah, a good ol’ hangin’ makes me feel like talking like Dubya.
Well, actually, I’m aganist the death penalty, but since this is happening anyway, there’s not too much I can do about it.

According to U.S. officials, Saddam Hussein is going to hang – probably some time this weekend. They’ve been asked to transfer him to Iraqi custody, meaning he clearly doesn’t have much time left.
See him on the left? You’re done, Hussein.
All of that aside, this really is an amazing moment in history – not only is a …

This is why I hate the media, news and sports. Every time something happens and becomes the flavor of the week (remembering Gerald Ford this week), it becomes the most important thing and relevant to every topic.

In an interview never before published, former President Gerald Ford said President Bush and his chief advisers “made a big mistake” with their justifications for the Iraq war.
Was this headline news before Gerald Ford died? We BARELY heard from Ford, and all of the sudden he has all sorts of Iraq credibility? Please.

I’m starting a holiday tradition at BipolarNation.com that’s very simple: What Did You Get For Christmas? I’ll link to the thread on the boards so you can all share, if you want, and I’ll get us started.
What did Dan get for Christmas?

Moneys.
From my brother Steve: 1/3 of Dave Chappelle’s Block Party DVD (he got it for all of his brothers, so I only get a third)
From my brother Joe: a watch and a book on wealth.
From my brother Mike: A cool poster of Tony Montana …

“Legacy” is a pretty loose term – you can have it mean whatever you want.  You can look at Abraham Lincoln’s legacy as walking around with big top hats and a funny beard,  but that’s not really a legacy, that’s just personal style.  Legacy means something special – it has to be the enduring effect a President has AFTER leaving office. President Lincoln’s legacy, for example, has been much more complex and profound than his status as a tall-hat-wearing icon or the fact that he was assassinated.
So, with Gerald Ford, …

I think the most underrated thing about Gerald Ford is that he was a star at the University of Michigan in the early 1930’s.  Man, he was old.  I also heard on the news that he had an opportunity to play in the NFL (the Chicago Bears, to be specific) but decided to be a lawyer.  If he had been a star in say, the 1980’s, American history would be a little different.
More to come.

Since you probably won’t get a whole lot of content here through Tuesday (it being Christmas weekend), I decided to bring out an old friend…the BPN Mixer. Not that this really counts as “content.”
Virgil Goode Not Backing Down
A follow up to yesterday’s post. Republican Representative Virgil Goode said that unless Americans take a stand, there will be more muslims like Ralph Ellison asking to use the Quran to swear in to Congress. The implication being that Muslims = Bad.
This guy has some balls. He might go …

I was going to post this whether this guy was a Republican or Democrat, but as it ends up, he’s a Republican. Go figure.
Virginia Representative Virgil Goode has been met with some controversy after making some statements about illegal immigration and Muslims, with a reference to the first-ever elected Muslim in Congress, Keith Ellison’s request to be sworn into office with the Quran.
“We need to stop illegal immigration totally and reduce legal immigration and end the diversity visas policy pushed hard by President Clinton and allowing many persons from …

The holidays are awesome for all of the obvious reasons, and since it’s been formally declared that Christmas season starts just after the Fourth of July and runs through New Year’s, Christmas commercials and all-day Christmas music stations seem to spread like they were a disease.
One thing that bothers me this year more than most are the stupid Zales, Jared’s, and Kay Jewelers commercials. You know, the ones where the guy buys a really expensive diamond necklace, the woman goes “Oh Billy!”, they kiss, and you hear “Every KISS …

Hillary Clinton’s saying that if she had known THEN (2002) what she knows now (20/20), she would have never voted for the Iraq war. Bam!
This morning on NBC’s “Today” show, Sen. Clinton was asked about her 2002 vote and offered a slightly evolved answer. “Obviously, if we knew then what we know now, there wouldn’t have been a vote,” she said in her usual refrain before adding, “and I certainly wouldn’t have voted that way.”
See, that’s the thing about the present – it’s not the past or the …
