BipolarNation’s Interview Request With President Bush
Right before we broke for Winter Break, I sent a letter and questions for President Bush. In the letter, I introduced myself, talked about Dan, discussed what BPN is all about, and requested an interview. Because the President fields so many politically based questions already, I decided to avoid those questions. Instead, I chose to ask him what advice he would have for people in our age group who are considering business and/or public service, since he has dedicated his life to both spheres. I also asked him what characteristics he felt made for great leadership.
Unfortunately, I received a letter from the White House today respectfully declining the interview due to scheduling demands. Here is that letter, which is dated January 8th:
Dear Mr. Robertson:
Thank you for your letter requesting to interview President Bush for BipolarNation.com.
The President appreciates your interest in meeting with him. Your request has been given every consideration. Unfortunately, due to schedule demands we are unable to accomadate your request.
Thank you again for writing. The President sends his best wishes.
Sincerely,
Melissa S. Bennett
Deputy Assistant to the President for Appointments and Scheduling
Though the request was declined, it was still neat that I received a hand signed letter by Ms. Bennett on White House stationary and it was comforting to know that the request was in fact read in its entirety and simply not disposed of.
We at BPN thank the President and his staff for considering the request and wish the Administration the best.
