Democratic Fundraising Numbers In

Greetings loyal BPN readers! It’s been a while since I last wrote a main pager. Hope all of you had a great Fourth of July.

The Democratic presidential campaign fundraising numbers are in for the second quarter.

According to an Associated Press article featured in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Monday, 7/2/07, Sen. Barack Obama set the all-time record for the most funds raised by a Democratic presidential candidate in a single quarter, having raised a whopping $32.5 M from April through June.

Sen. Hillary Clinton raised approximately $5 M less than Obama did.

Former Sen. John Edwards raised over $9 M, while New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson took in more than $7 M.

According to the article, President Bush, a Republican, set the all-time single quarter fundraising record, having taken in an amazing $35.1 M during the second quarter in 2003.

So what do these numbers mean exactly? Let’s try to decipher them on BPN’s world-famous message boards.
