2008 Presidential Election, General News, What's Shakin'? »
The one debate I don’t watch, and it gets the highest ratings. Ugh. You can actually watch the recent Republican debate on YouTube.
Either way, the fallout from this debate has become a story on its own, so I thought I’d post up my reactions to those:
-CNN lost a lot of credibility – sort of. Conservatives already knew it was a liberal stronghold, only it doesn’t get blasted like Fox News. When a gay general who asked the GOP candidates turned out to be connected to Hillary Clinton’s campaign, I had …

It’s been a while since I’ve done the BPN Presidential Power Rankings – I’m waiting for Iowa. But if I did one right now, no one would increase as much as Mike Huckabee. Check out the latest Iowa polls:
Mike Huckabee: 28%
Mitt Romney: 25%
Rudy Giuliani: 12%
Fred Thompson: 11%
Everyone else: poo
Huckabee is bolstered by a dominating performance thus far with Iowa Evangelical Christians: 48% of them support Huckabee. That’s more than the rest combined, with Romney getting 16% of their support.
Dominant. One …

So it turns out Barack Obama did cocaine back in the day. In fact, he admits that in high school, he embraced the anti-Mormon lifestyle in full: alcohol, drugs, and women.
It’s not shocking that he did it (aren’t we all pretty sure Dubya liked himself the coco powder?), but that he admitted it while the election slowly plods to one of the most crucial stages at the Iowa caucuses.
Here’s something to consider: was Obama honestly pre-empting this, or did it just come up naturally in conversation? Politicians can usually decide …
War in Iraq »
That’s right, we’re winning. Despite how you feel about the war – even I’ve admitted I’d rather have never gone in there – liberals reading this should hold to their “open-minded, objective” principles and try to accept that the evidence suggests we’re actually not only winning, we’re kind of whooping butt.
I mean, think about it: lots of U.S. soldiers dead? Yeah, what did you expect when you’re fighting an army of guerillas who don’t value anyone’s life? A political quagmire? Yeah, what did you expect when we went tearing down …

Things are getting a little hot for the Democrats in Iowa. This morning’s Today Show reported that the polls in Iowa are so close between Obama-Hillary-Edwards that the margin of error could mean they’re all actually tied exactly.
Given the American Gladiator-style Eliminator that Iowa is, and its potential to shake things up, it’s entirely possible that Hillary Clinton does not end up as your Democratic candidate for President. Meanwhile, the Republicans are close enough that any one of the top four or five guys could end up doing well (with …
2008 Presidential Election, Government/Politics, What's Shakin'? »
I watched much of the Democratic Presidential debate in Las Vegas last night, and I’m not the better for it. But I do run a website about politics, I figure it’s worth covering. Here are my notes from the debate.
-Hillary Clinton was good. Well, at least relative to the other Ding Dongs and Dodds up there. She just LOOKED like the frontrunner – actually answering at least one yes/no question with a yes/no and no “but…” And usually Hillary has such a big “but.” …

Question: What is the largest object in our solar system?
Answer: Right now, not the Sun. It’s the comet Holmes, which has exploded and made a cloud of dust that is actually bigger than the Sun.

A lot of people use the word “gay” without actually meaning “homosexual.” In my free time, I substitute “gay” for a lot of words, and it’s been a really convenient way of expressing disapproval for something.
For me, “gay” naturally has a connotation of wimpiness, hypersensitivity, and femininity, but people can use it in other ways: something that’s “gay” might be bad, unpleasant, or violent against nature.
The word “gay” is used so much that it might be time to revise its meaning. Remember that it used to mean simply “happy,” as …
2008 Presidential Election, Government/Politics »
One good thing about this long election is that one day, it will be over. But before that happens, there are finally going to be some things that mix it up and hopefully knock down some frontrunners.
The Iowa caucuses (not “cactuses”) are coming up. If you remember these from the election of ‘04, you might remember that Howard Dean and Dick Gephardt were considered top tier Democratic candidates BEFORE Iowa. AFTER Iowa, it was all John Kerry.
Since Hillary (who you can call by just that name now, like Cher) and …
Political Cartoons »
Occasionally on BipolarNation.com we do things other than listen to stuff I just made up. We also have some political cartoons from my good buddy Phil, a graphic designer. He has some serious skills. Here’s his latest:
