Pay No Attention to the Racist Behind the Curtain

Obama was supposed to give a speech on race, but instead we got the Communist Manifesto.

This speech had many failings, so let’s try to tackle them chronologically, in the order they appeared in his speech.

First,

What we have already achieved gives us hope – the audacity to hope – for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.

Obama’s losing numbers over Rev. Jeremiah Wright, his lead in the polls is dwindling, and he’s getting attacked from left and right (well, right). It’s SO EASY to separate yourself from this guy. And it’s the right political move.

And still he embraces Wright and uses Wright’s phrase “the audacity of hope,” as if to say “none of this matters.” This is just a sample of how much he embraced Wright. Ugh.

This time we want to talk about how the lines in the Emergency Room are filled with whites and blacks and Hispanics who do not have health care; who don’t have the power on their own to overcome the special interests in Washington, but who can take them on if we do it together.

This was supposed to be a speech about race and Jeremiah Wright. Who cares about health care? Oh, because every bad thing ever is an emotional reason for stupid socialist policies.

This time we want to talk about the shuttered mills that once provided a decent life for men and women of every race, and the homes for sale that once belonged to Americans from every religion, every region, every walk of life. This time we want to talk about the fact that the real problem is not that someone who doesn’t look like you might take your job; it’s that the corporation you work for will ship it overseas for nothing more than a profit.

…because of our high minimum wage, a liberal policy. Fear your jobs, voters! Fear! Forget about Jeremiah Wright and how much I hate your racist country, fear for your jobs! The Earth is heating up! Vote for me or you’ll lose your job. Pay no attention to the racist behind the curtain!

Much is being made about how Obama “threw his Grandmother under the reindeer.” Read:

I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother

Not true, you’re not related to Jeremiah Wright.

– a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world,

So why are you about to say this:

but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.

Jeremiah Wright has flaws, but look at the good he’s done! Meanwhile, my grandmother raised me with love to become a Presidential candidate, but she’s white so look at her flaws! Look how pale she is! What a dumb racist whitey!

I’ve disliked Obama as a candidate since I found out that he’s not Diet Liberal, but the real, high fructose corn syrup liberal. Now I think I just dislike Obama as a person.

By the way, for more on Obama grandma-hatership, check out what he said on the radio, according to a Michelle Malkin reader:

I am paraphrasing here, but his response was something like “She is a typical white person who fears people on the street.”

“Typical white person.” I thought we were the racists, but then I grew a brain and became a conservative.

This is your “post-racial” candidate, Democrats. He says stuff to the tune of “typical white person.”

Ann Coulter said it well:

But the “post-racial candidate” thinks we need to talk yet more about race. How much more? I had had my fill by around 1974. How long must we all marinate in the angry resentment of black people?

Unlike his “old uncle” — who is not his uncle — Obama had no excuses for his grandmother. Obama’s grandmother never felt the lash of discrimination! Crazy grandma doesn’t get the same pass as the crazy uncle; she’s white. Denounce the racist!

I’m under thirty. Our generation has only known the legal discrimination of white people through affirmative action in hiring and education. In college, no one told me about the evils of minorities, but I knew full well how evil white people have been.

Race is a liberal issue, another means to continue to redistribute wealth, which is their priority. White guilt is also handy in promoting self-hatred. All I can sumise from this whole debacle is that the only people who haven’t let go of racism are black liberals. With the possible exception of white liberals.

What else do you want me to say? This speech was a bleeping joke.
