Three Common Liberal Lies
This past weekend, hippies around the world all participated in “Earth Hour,” in which everyone turned off their lights for an hour. Even Google’s home page turned black for a little while as the search engine wanted to join in.
What a waste of time.
Sometimes I ask myself, do liberals really believe this stuff? Do they really think turning off the lights for an hour will “raise awareness”? And for what? So that people can have lights off all the time? We used to do the no lights thing - until we discovered light bulbs are better.
But the answer to the somewhat rhetoric question is surprisingly often a big “no.” Here are three things liberals actually believe.
1. “Global Warming is a Pressing Issue”
Even Al Gore, the Nobel Prize winner and Global Warming Crusader, doesn’t think man-caused climate change is a cause worth giving up a mansion for.
Gore’s mansion, located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).
In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.
The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average.
Think about that. Al Gore has won a Nobel Prize for telling people not to consume energy. And he consumes 20 times the average energy consumption of the world’s leading consumers.
This isn’t Martin Luther King cheating on his wife. This would be like Martin Luther King owning slaves.
2. “We Love Animals”
Blah, blah, blah, meat, animals and what not. They’re living creatures, right?
Truth is, PETA actually kills animals and - because they don’t eat them - stores them in a freezer.
According to the group’s own records, PETA employees killed more than 97 percent of the flesh-and-blood creatures in their care that year.
For illustrative purposes, this would be like if the NRA destroyed guns or libraries burned books, only guns and books can’t yelp in pain. You’d think if vegetarians wanted to join an organization, it wouldn’t be the one killing animals.
If PETA loved animals, wouldn’t they try to find homes for them, or at least give them a good life? You know - since they’re called People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, you’d think they’d, uh, not KILL them, but hey, I’m just a blogger.
3. “No one is FOR Abortion”
A few weeks ago I posted about someone who called in to a Planned Parenthood wanting to donate money to specifically kill a minority baby. The person on the phone at Planned Parenthood was “excited” by the request.
Well, even though Al Gore knows that global warming hype is baloney, many liberals are so eco-insane that they value Mother Earth over being a mother.
Had Toni Vernelli gone ahead with her pregnancy ten years ago, she would know at first hand what it is like to cradle her own baby, to have a pair of innocent eyes gazing up at her with unconditional love, to feel a little hand slipping into hers - and a voice calling her Mummy.
But the very thought makes her shudder with horror.
Because when Toni terminated her pregnancy, she did so in the firm belief she was helping to save the planet.
Incredibly, so determined was she that the terrible “mistake” of pregnancy should never happen again, that she begged the doctor who performed the abortion to sterilise her at the same time.
But no one’s “for” abortion, right? Wrong. Some people are.
