McNasty
Former White House press secretary Scott McClellan is rolling in the dough (at the time of this posting, he’s #1 on that link to the Amazon bestsellers). Why? Another behind-the-scenes “tell-all” bashing President Bush. Or, to McClellan, President Bu$h. If that reference was too unclear for you, how about this: “I’m gon’ make me some Bush-bashing moneys!”
What other assumption is a nation supposed to make? McClellan himself made fun of tell-all memoirs back in the day. Suddenly he appears anti-Bush (though claiming to still “admire” him), he gets booked on the Today Show, and his book shoots up to #1. Iiiiinteresting.
But instead of making that point further, perhaps I can let McClellan make his own points.
From his book:
What I do know is that war should only be waged when necessary, and the Iraq war was not necessary.
From his days as Press Secretary:
Well, why, all of a sudden, if he had all these grave concerns, did he not raise these sooner?
It’s almost like he’s talking about himself! Ah, the magic of the Wordpress quote button.
I guess I can’t really call out McClellan for making money off a book - what’s wrong with that? - but it is interesting that McClellan was essentially a Bush guy who worked with him since the 2000 Presidential election. Who knows - maybe they’re turning on him.
