This pleases me.
Remember: Obama, before becoming a U.S. senator, voted against protecting babies that would have survived late-term abortions. But apparently he’s willing to concede that not only does life begin before then, it begins at conception.
Another liberal who doesn’t actually believe the BS he supports.

They’re genetically engineering bacteria that eat garbage and poop oil.
the genetic alteration of bugs – very, very small ones – so that when they feed on agricultural waste such as woodchips or wheat straw, they do something extraordinary. They excrete crude oil.
Unbelievably, this is not science fiction. Mr Pal holds up a small beaker of bug excretion that could, theoretically, be poured into the tank of the giant Lexus SUV next to us. Not that Mr Pal is willing to risk it just yet. He gives it a month before …

This is me when thinking about John McCain these days. It’s tough to be a conservative and have to vote between moderates and liberals – especially when half of your brain is telling you to rationalize the moderate’s conservativeness.
If you know me and my blog, you know there’s no chance I could ever vote for Obama. He hates babies and wants to shovel more bleep onto your tax burden. And while I’m still about 60% sure that I’m voting for McCain (versus finding some obscure conservative no …

Slowly, mainstream pop science is beginning to catch up with evolutionary theory. This time, it’s a Vanity Fair article entitled “Why Women Aren’t Funny.”
Gasp! Something based in scientific study suggesting the genders aren’t equal?! How dare they!
Of course, most of us are blind to the inequalities of the genders because said inequalities are instilled in our brains from Aladdin to Finding Nemo to…anything else you can buy or has commercials.
In other words, why haven’t you ever noticed that women really aren’t that funny? Boldness added by …

Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve tried to deny my past for too long, but I feel I can hold the charade no longer.
That’s right. I’m a born-again Star Trek fan.
As a kid in grade school, me and a couple of friends even went so far as going to a Star Trek convention. There are pictures out there and, yes, I’m wearing the huge Vulcan ears with a smile from ear to ear.
I thought I outgrew that phase until recently. Hey, I’m a pretty cool dude, after all I have …

Note: Yup, I’m back from vacation. Aren’t you lucky? Now, back to your regularly scheduled content:
When it comes to the general election this fall, I feel more like a doomsaying prophet than an optimist. As I’ve written, the Republicans have one of the least popular Presidents in recent history in office, and the Republican nominee is a 71-year-old moderate many conservatives have trouble getting behind.
So news of Newsweek’s poll that showed Obama opening up a 15-point lead over McCain didn’t really surprise me.
With numbers consistently showing rock-bottom approval ratings for …

I’m going to be on vacation all next week, so you won’t hear from me the whole time. Luckly, my buddy and co-author Aaron Robertson has pledged that he’ll carry some of the posting load.
By the way, Aaron has a surprise for you all up his sleeve, so I’d definitely stay tuned. Enjoy!

The Supreme Court ruled today 5-4 that Congress had not validly taken habeas rights from “foreign nationals” held at Guantanamo Bay. The essential effect is that potential terrorists will get treated more like American citizens.
Ugh. It’s a cliche to say that the left is anti-American, but it’s hard to classify this kind of ruling as anything else. Said Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia:
The Nation will live to regret what the Court has done today. I dissent.
Well said.

Doesn’t this strike you as the potential future of the global warming “crisis”:
A quarter of a century after the outbreak of Aids, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has accepted that the threat of a global heterosexual pandemic has disappeared.
In the first official admission that the universal prevention strategy promoted by the major Aids organisations may have been misdirected, Kevin de Cock, the head of the WHO’s department of HIV/Aids said there will be no generalised epidemic of Aids in the heterosexual population outside Africa.
The threat for non-African straight people is …

Gas prices now average $4 a gallon, and some are saying that will be 5 bucks come the Fourth of July, despite my best efforts.
So I’m posting a poll over at the BipolarNation.com message boards: how high will gas prices get before they start dropping again and stop breaking records?
Vote here.
Note: you might have to register at the BipolarNation message boards to vote.
