Straights: Don’t Worry About AIDS

10 June 2008 No Comment

Doesn’t this strike you as the potential future of the global warming “crisis”:

A quarter of a century after the outbreak of Aids, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has accepted that the threat of a global heterosexual pandemic has disappeared.

In the first official admission that the universal prevention strategy promoted by the major Aids organisations may have been misdirected, Kevin de Cock, the head of the WHO’s department of HIV/Aids said there will be no generalised epidemic of Aids in the heterosexual population outside Africa.

The threat for non-African straight people is over? It “disappeared”? Where did it go?

Maybe it was hardly a threat in the first place. Look at this part of the subheader under the story:

A 25-year health campaign was misplaced outside the continent of Africa.

The 25-year health campaign against AIDS amongst heterosexuals had NO PLACE outside of Africa! A lot of us already knew that being a straight-thinking heterosexual (pun semi-intended but left in) would generally keep you safe from AIDS. But it is now limited to the following groups:

Whereas once it was seen as a risk to populations everywhere, it was now recognised that, outside sub-Saharan Africa, it was confined to high-risk groups including men who have sex with men, injecting drug users, and sex workers and their clients.

It was politically incorrect all this time to label it a “gay disease,” except for one thing: YOU WERE RIGHT. Outside of Africa, you get AIDS often from poor lifestyle choices – being gay, injecting yourself with drugs, or havingsexwith/being prostitutes. Because we had to protect those apparently sensitive people, a false threat on heterosexuals was created and became overblown.

This is just an interesting news item. No one’s really going to cry “foul” for being duped. As usual, in our politically correct society, lying to the majority is acceptable. Granted, the threat will of course remain for the people of Africa.

I’m wondering what else had been politically incorrect to go against might turn out to have basically been a falsehood all this time, with little fanfare. Cough global warming cough.

What happens in 2025 and articles come out that recognize a new global cooling trend?

I’ll tell you. It will be just a little story, like this one, saying “global warming threat not as prevalent as once thought” while it gets lost in the mound of other pulp news the media has its hand on by then. While, all the while, some leftover stupid government ideas like this will continue to live on.

P.S. Straight people still have a reason to worry – herpes.
