I Say Obama Moves to Europe

Yesterday I was perusing Bernard Goldberg’s “Crazies to the Left of Me, Wimps to the Right,” and came across a passage that explained the author’s transition from liberal to conservative. Goldberg explained that he felt liberals abandoned their grassroots foundation in favor of a sort of snobbery that grew out of touch with the common man.

As if on cue, I caught wind of this story:

At town hall meeting in Powder Spring, Georgia on Tuesday, Obama said, β€œIt’s embarrassing when Europeans come over here, they all speak English, they speak French, they speak German. And then we go over to Europe and all we can say is merci beaucoup, right?”

Oh, sorry to embarass you in front of your beloved Europeans, bleephead. Wonder why all those people speak English? It’s because we dominate.

I don’t want a President who’s all that concerned of how we look to Europeans. Sure, we want a President with a strong foreign policy who can build strong friendships with other countries, but I don’t want a guy making a decisions thinking, “how will this effect how many jokes Italians make about Americans?”

Such snobbery. By the way, Obama doesn’t speak a foreign language:

I don’t speak a foreign language. It’s embarrassing!” Barack Obama exclaimed today at town hall meeting here. Obama, who often touts his time growing up overseas, made the confession while speaking about the importance of teaching foreign languages in schools.

Americans shouldn’t be embarassed that they can go overseas, speak English, and get frequently understood. If this truly is a “global economy,” perhaps we should be emigrating toward a common language anyhow.

Maybe this is a small issue. But combine this with Jeremiah Wright and Michelle Obama finally learning how to be proud of America as an adult - hey, maybe we’re getting a glimpse of how this guy really thinks.
