Drudge says McCain has picked a running mate. It’s just a matter of time before we hear it – as McCain won’t make the obvious “bleep you” move of announcing it today and stealing some of Barack Obama’s thunder.
Will it be Romney? I’ve been rooting for it ever since he suspended his campaign and endorsed McCain. He did it at CPAC – and conservatives were understandably disappointed when he bowed out.
Now, it looks like he’s considered the favorite to be McCain’s VP (above the likes of Pawlenty, …

These are two of your prominent Wisconsin female politicians: holding up condoms during speeches and claiming John McCain is sexist because he said his wife could win a beauty contest.
While Republican John McCain is sending overtures to pro-Hillary Rodham Clinton women who haven’t gotten over her defeat for the Democratic nomination, Lt. Gov. Barb Lawton on Tuesday accused McCain of exhibiting a “fundamental disrespect toward women” in his campaign.
Lawton was referring to McCain’s quip at a motorcycle rally in Sturgis, S.D., earlier this month that he had encouraged his …

A loyal vassal of BipolarNation sent me an interesting essay you can find in the inset text at this link. It’s the “I Quit, I Think” essay written by John Taylor Gatto, a former New York Teacher of the Year who has this to say:
If you hear of a job where I don’t have to hurt kids to make a living, let me know.
Needless to say, I think I like this guy.
Professional interest is served by making what is easy to do seem hard; by subordinating the laity to …

For the Presidential election, this summer has been like the hard shell over the soft nut in the middle: finally we get to some content! Here are 10 things to watch during the Democratic Convention (that aren’t, you know, something else on TV):
Monday, August 25th
1. The attractive contributors of Fox News. This really goes for any day during the convention, but make sure to stay tuned into Fox News. Throughout the coverage, you’ll probably see the likes of Amanda Carpenter or Mary Katharine Ham.
2. …

Well, I was wrong. It seems I totally overestimated Barack Obama, because now McCain has grabbed the lead.
In a sharp turnaround, Republican John McCain has opened a 5-point lead on Democrat Barack Obama in the U.S. presidential race and is seen as a stronger manager of the economy, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.
McCain leads Obama among likely U.S. voters by 46 percent to 41 percent, wiping out Obama’s solid 7-point advantage in July and taking his first lead in the monthly Reuters/Zogby poll.
What’s more, apparently this …

Chances are that between when I write this and when you read it, someone will be killed by a drunk driver. After all, in 2008, alcohol-related traffic caused about 41% of traffic fatalities. It’s an ugly mess.
So why are a bunch of colleges saying we should lower the drinking age?
College presidents from about 100 of the nation’s best-known universities, including Duke, Dartmouth and Ohio State, are calling on lawmakers to consider lowering the drinking age from 21 to 18, saying current laws actually encourage dangerous binge drinking on …

According to the Pew Research Center, Catholics have voted pretty evenly for the Republican Presidential candidate and the Democratic candidates in ‘00 and ‘04. To be precise, Catholics voted 47%-50% Bush-Gore in 2000 and 52-47 Bush-Kerry in 2004.
Bush is pro-life. Gore and Kerry are both pro-abortion. The Catholic Church is pro-life. As it says in the Catechism:
Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights …
