When Young People Would Rather Sit Around

One of my brothers told me this story about being in a large classroom in his college campus. It was the afternoon already on an election day, and the professor asked the class who had all voted already.

Only two students raised their hands: my brother (huge conservative) and another student, a member of the college Republican group.

Remember Vote or Die and Rock the Vote?  They did nothing:  young people are still lazy and it’s the older people who generally have their say.  For this reason, I’m starting to wonder if John McCain really has a good chance at winning this thing.

According to U.S. Census info, citizens 18-24 have the lowest voter registration rate, while the age group of 65 and higher has the highest.

Who do you think resonates more with old people:  young fist-bumpin’ Ludacris-inspirin’ Obama, or old crusty war hero?

Couple that fact with this:  Obama hasn’t taken off in the polls, and if you follow Newsweek, he’s actually sunk like a stone.  As of writing this, Gallup Daily has Obama and McCain in a statistical tie.

We are still ahead of the conventions, VP picks, and debates, so there’s a lot that could change, but so far McCain is holding up well.
