NFL’s Career Interception Leader Traded to Jets
The NFL’s Career Interception Leader loves the Packers and its fans so much that he messed with their off-season, wasn’t in the right “mindset” to be a Packer, and requested to be traded to a team within the division so that he could play them twice a year.
To all of the Packers fans whose Favre-blindedness is starting to clear: now you see what Bears fans have been seeing all along:
- Celebrating like a monkey every TD pass, getting the cameras off the wide receiver and onto him
- Trying to be the Packers’ GM who ultimately couldn’t swing a trade for Randy Moss
- My unproven but wouldn’t-surprise-me hypothesis: having something personal against Aaron Rodgers and hot helping him learn (notice that whenever Rodgers is asked when he last talked to Favre, it wasn’t recently?)
- Stringing along the Packers every off-season while they try to figure out what to do, going so far as to retire one year and actually come back in the same year, after he told the Packers twice he was retired and after they drafted two new quarterbacks
- Flying to Green Bay and then distracting a team practice after claiming he wouldn’t
- Wanting to be traded to a division opponent so he could play the Packers twice in a year. In terms of loyal Packers, wouldn’t that now put him at the bottom of the list? Man, he really turned quickly after all the appreciation at his retirement announcement
Packer fans: that’s your hero.
It’s not that Favre is playing for another team - Jerry Rice’s last stop was in Denver of all places - it’s the way he did it. Like he wanted to do with the Randy Moss trade, he took power away from the franchise to achieve his own personal goal of playing a few more pointless years, if that. Joe Montana didn’t embarrass the 49ers in order to go play somewhere else.
In other words, Favre’s own desire to play a few more years was more important to him than not embarassing the Packers.
What does that tell you?
I’d say good riddance, but with Favre in media-frenzy New York, this is definitely not the last we’ll see of that media hound.
