That’s the kind of headline that speaks for itself.  PETA, which kills animals, is going after Ben and Jerry’s ice cream for not using human milk in their ice cream.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc., urging them to replace cow’s milk they use in their ice cream products with human breast milk, according to a statement recently released by a PETA spokeswoman.

“PETA’s request comes in the wake of news reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting breast milk for 75 percent of the cow’s milk in the food he serves,” the statement says.PETA officials say a move to human breast milk would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health.

“Lessen the suffering of dairy cows.”  There are some dairy cows not far from BPN Headquarters and they certainly don’t seem to be suffering.  Mostly they just stare.

If you’re counting, the lefties’ sacred cows include the imaginary right for women to kill their babies, gay marriage, and, well, cows.

“The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn’t make sense,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “Everyone knows that ‘the breast is best,’ so Ben & Jerry’s could do consumers and cows a big favor by making the switch to breast milk.”

I just like that in a CNN article, an executive said “breast is best.”

They made the argument that dairy cow milk might not be the best kind of milk for humans.  That might be a valid point, but it’s not like it would make ice cream all that healthy.

Think about what PETA’s asking for a second.  I imagine Ben and Jerry’s has a huge demand for milk.  Thousands to millions of gallons worth, right?

How on earth would they get that much breastmilk?  Giant rows of lactating women connected to hoses?  Would it be like selling your blood - a relatively casual dispensing of your bodily fluids?  Can I work in the breastmilk department?

Sometimes I think PETA won’t rest until humans take the place of animals.  After working at the Ben and Jerry’s Human Dairy Farm, women would be put out to graze for their lunch break.  The Ben and Jerry’s cafeteria would serve “feed.”  They’d drink from a common trough.

But I shouldn’t give them any ideas.
