Happy Halloween! It’s my job to scare you today. And what could be scarier than the prospect of an Obama presidency?
Elections are coming up, and people who are voting for Barack Obama need to think about what he’ll actually bring. Not that people who plan on voting for Barack Obama can be trusted to do any independent thinking, but hey, I’m blogging here.
What would an Obama presidency bring?
He’s already given “first act” status to signing the Freedom of Choice act. (link)
Here’s how Wikipedia describes the act:
The …

I’m not thirty-five yet, but I am a natural-born U.S. citizen, which means that it’s possible for me to be elected President one day. I would never stand up to vetting because 1. I have this site which includes me alienating most teachers and saying I would cut Social Security and Medicare if I got the chance and 2. I would never be able to answer questions with the right amount of political correctness.
For example, here is how I see an interview possibly happening.
Question: Governor Kenitz, …

Little else is requisite to carry a state to the highest degree of opulence from the lowest barbarism but peace, easy taxes, and a tolerable administration of justice: all the rest being brought about by the natural course of things.
-Adam Smith
If you remember learning about FDR in publik skool, you probably heard about how many jobs his many, many programs during the Great Depression provided. About how popular he was because he seemed to be leading Americans out of fear and into wages and productivity again.
Of course, the publik skools …

Lots of Europeans have a funny feeling running up their leg when it comes to Barack Obama. He does so well there that one of his major campaign speeches this year wasn’t in Butte or Buffalo: it was in Berlin.
How do they love him? Let me count the ways.
After Obama won the primary, the Facebook group “Brits for Barack” claimed “we did it!” as if they had any say in the matter.
The Berliner Morgenpost (translation: Berlin Morning Post) called Obama the “New Kennedy.” An editorial …

I want to take a look at John Stossel’s latest column because it seems like such a good summary of why less government intervention equals better government intervention.
First, he uses the example of a skating rink, where every individual skater self-regulates with two goals in mind: 1. Having fun and 2. Not crashing.
Try this thought experiment suggested by economist Daniel Klein of George Mason University. Imagine you had never seen a skating rink and were told that people were going to strap blades to their feet and propel …

I made the first addition to the BPN platform. I talked about life beginning at conception and dealt with the counterarguments.
I’m still working on getting the “heading” links to work.

Move over, Joe Six-pack! There’s a new political turn of phrase named Joe in town!
If you watched last night’s debate and wondered who Joe the Plumber is, he’s Joe Wurzelbacher from Toledo, Ohio, a man who’s been working 12-hour shifts for a while working toward the dream of buying a small plumbing business.
Of course, the twist is that buying said small plumbing business would put his income in excess of $250,000, at which point Obama’s proposed rich-guy alarm goes off and raises his taxes. Wurzelbacher asked Obama about …

The third Presidential debate is on tonight, and with Wisconsinites encouraging him to, do you think McCain will unleash the dragon and “go there”?
According to McCain, he will:
John McCain said Tuesday that Barack Obama is “probably ensured” that his association with 1960s radical William Ayers will come up in Wednesday’s debate.
“I was astonished to hear him say that he was surprised that I didn’t have the guts” to bring up Ayers, McCain said on KMOX, a St. Louis radio station.
“I think he is probably ensured that it will come up …

This is an idea I’ve been kicking in my head for a while: fully forming my political positions and putting it all down for everyone to see. I’m going to call it the BipolarNation Platform 1.0, with the idea in mind that it can be flexible enough (though not wavering in its principles) for a 2.0 and 3.0, etc, down the road.
The Platform would break down each issue and give sources, research, and examples why, for example, a flat tax would work better than a progressive tax.
I want …
