The United States has been stimulatin’ and bailin’ out since last year, and today we found out that nothing’s turning around, or even doing as well as “expected.”  Fox News has the report that the economy shrank worse than expected in the fourth quarter last year:
The U.S. economy contracted at a staggering 6.2 percent pace at the end of 2008, the worst showing in a quarter-century, as consumers and businesses ratcheted back spending, plunging the country deeper into recession.
The Commerce Department report released Friday …

Last Tuesday in his address to Congress, Barack Obama was all about education.  The man who sends his kids to private school thinks that teachers and big education are just the tops, saying:
it will be the goal of this administration to ensure that every child has access to a complete and competitive education — from the day they are born to the day they begin a career.
Obama also established a pledge for America to have the highest percentage of college grads by 2020.   There’s one problem with this:  it’s looking …

I’d say this is one of the worst protests I’ve ever seen, but I know my generation and their need to protest something, even if there’s really nothing.  I think they’re more interested in acceptance from their hippie peers (and their hippie women) than actual change, and that becomes more obvious when they start protesting nothing.
From the NY Daily News:
“We’re not going to take it anymore!” Green yelled. “This is our university! This is unfair and unjust!”
Many of the other NYU students who watched the revolt fizzle said they still …

You give a mouse a cookie, it’s going to want a glass of milk.
Remember that quote from “Air Force One,” the movie with Harrison Ford?  Well, Democrats want the whole cow.
As if about a trillion worthless dollars in worthless government spending wasn’t enough, Democrats in the House are proposing a $410 billion bill.
IDIOTS.  STOP.  YOU’VE DONE ENOUGH DAMAGE.  STOP SPENDING MONEY LIKE THERE ARE NO CONSEQUENCES.
Of course, spending money makes perfect sense if you have no economic knowledge and look at things backwards.  Hey, did you know we can just …

I think Milwaukee’s going to miss Archibishop Dolan, who after serving Milwaukee since 2002 will be heading to New York to lead the archdiocese there.
Though this isn’t a “promotion,” it’s definitely a bigger job.  Milwaukee will miss him.  The archdiocese really grew with Archbishop Dolan.
James T. Harris, who I don’t think is Catholic, had this to say:
I’m sad today. Milwaukee is losing a humble servant, not just of the church but of all people. He was exactly what the city needed. He restored confidence and credibility to a discredited Church …

I think Jim Doyle came up with his 2010 Wisconsin budget by looking at each many a decision and thinking “what is the exact opposite of what Dan Kenitz would do?”
How do I hate it?  Let me count the ways, with help from the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute:
Doyle’s budget increases the amount the state has to be in deficit before a budget adjustment bill requirement goes into effect…
After the recent “Public Enemies” film debacle (where the state gave a Hollywood crew $4.6 million so Johnny Depp could get nice haircuts), …

Drudge is going nuts linking to this video of CNBC’s Rick Santelli going off on the government for subsidizing failure, and calling for a new Tea Party.
A sample:
The government is promoting bad behavior… do we really want to subsidize the losers’ mortgages… This is America! How many of you people want to pay for your neighbor’s mortgage? President Obama are you listening? How about we all stop paying our mortgage! It’s a moral hazard’
Rewarding failure can only lead to an economy that rots from the inside.  A low tide brings …

Pope Benedict XVI recently talked about Catholic politicians when talking to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi:
Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday told U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, a Catholic who supports abortion rights, that Catholic politicians have a duty to protect life “at all stages of its development,” the Vatican said.
Pelosi is the first top Democrat to meet with Benedict since the election of Barack Obama, who won a majority of the Catholic vote despite differences with the Vatican on abortion.
The Vatican released remarks by the pope to …

Jonathan Lopez was giving a speech on marriage in his class at LACC (Los Angeles City College), quoting the dictionary and the Bible in apparent attempts to defend the traditional “man and a woman” argument, when he was cut off by the teacher and not allowed to finish. According to Lopez, the professor, John Matteson, proceeded to call him a “fascist bastard.”
It happened in a classroom setting? Then yeah, I believe it.
If American education wasn’t so busy molesting, beating, and harassing kids, this would be laughable by now.
Two …

Note: For those of you unfamiliar with Keynesian economics, it is essentially the theory that government intervention should be used to help economies grow.
Hey, remember Argentina? It once seemed destined to become a great Western Hemisphere power, kind of like Brazil has become a top-10 economy, but throughout the 20th Century fizzled out. Says the American Conservative:
A century ago, Argentina was one of the world’s emerging powers, seemingly destined to outpace all but the greatest imperial states. Today it is … Argentina. A national decline on that …
