Regular readers of this blog know that one of the few government programs I support is NASA. Why? I view it essentially as military research and development, but also one of the most worthy investments the government can make. While we spend hundreds of billions domestically to keep people unemployed and stupid, at least some of our money is going into making space ships and exploring our solar neighborhood.
With that in mind, I’d like to remind you that NASA also lends us some practical usefulness. Here …

I’m not really sure what will come of this, but I have a feeling it will be bad for Chrysler.
As anyone who owns a company that hires union workers knows, unions are like the opposite of King Midas: everything they touch turns to dog doo. Now that the UAW is getting a 55% ownership stake in Chrysler, I’m not sure I can predict anything but imminent and total disaster.
The United Auto Workers union’s retiree health-care fund will own 55 percent of Chrysler LLC in exchange for cutting in …

Hat tip to Patrick McIlerhan: a teacher in New Hampshire who was up for Teacher of the Year has been laid off:
The Hampton School Board has been making moves that would be a publicity agent’s worst nightmare.
In the past week, it has announced a massive restructuring of Hampton Academy, the school’s principal announced his resignation and, after she thought her job was intact for next year, an educator who is in the running to be the state’s Teacher of the Year was told a mistake had been made and …

It’s “Green Week” this week, which is another way of saying you can look forward to a half-dozen stories on the Today Show that include the phrase “going green!” like it’s going out of style.
But do liberals care about protecting the environment?
I think if they did, they would fully embrace ideas like nuclear energy whether or not corporations could profit off of it. Nuclear energy is clean, safe, and produces plenty of power.
Liberals also claim that they want to see the number of abortions go down, they just don’t …

Barack Obama spoke at the Jesuit private university, Georgetown University, and when he did, apparently some people covered up some symbols that would have been seen behind Obama, including “IHS” referring to Jesus.
What is happening with Catholic universities? First, Notre Dame invites Obama to speak at a commencement. Now Georgetown University, another Catholic university, apparently is willing to cover up some of its most sacred symbols because Obama’s crew asked them to.
They are symbols, yes. But tell me what the symbol of acquiescing to team Obama’s wishes …

Wisconsin’s own Paul Ryan is hailed as a rising star of the GOP, regularly featured on national outlets like Fox News. Michelle Malkin, however, highlights Paul Ryan’s questionable voting record.
With today being National Tax Day Tea Party, this seems an especially good time to question those who would try to lead conservatism. As a Wisconsin reader of Malkin’s wrote in, Paul Ryan is scheduled to speak at the Madison tea party – even though he voted for TARP, the auto bailout, and the 90 tax of the AIG …

Note: This article is also a contribution to the BPN Platform.
One reason that it’s difficult to trust the environmentalist movement is that they don’t embrace nuclear energy as the wonder that it is – clean, safe, reliable, and utterly innovative. The BPN Platform would emphasize nuclear energy as the energy of the future and of the present, looking to loosen restrictions on building new plants to let private markets get to work.
Current Status of Nuclear Power
Although the United States is the largest producer of nuclear power, France is the largest-percentage …

Brought to you by the same people who think you can spend your way out of debt: the solution to global warming is more pollution!
Via Wall Street Journal:
The president’s new science adviser said Wednesday that global warming is so dire, the Obama administration is discussing radical technologies to cool Earth’s air.
John Holdren told the Associated Press in his first interview since being confirmed last month that the idea of geoengineering the climate is being discussed. One such extreme option includes shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the …

“A check for nothin’?! The Democrats must be in office again.”
-Abraham Simpson
I have another way to tell the Democrats are in office again: highly advanced military projects go bye-bye. This time it’s the F-22 Raptor, a plane so well-designed that it “cannot be matched by any known or projected fighter aircraft” according to the USAF.
The best fighter aircraft in the world.
Gone.
Part of an effective defense is pushing the envelope in terms of research and development, which is why I’m such a supporter of NASA. Now Congress gets to consider the …

As a loyal Bears fan for over a good decade, I can remember a few certain highlights:
Bryan Robinson blocking a field goal attempt by the Green Bay Packers after Walter Payton died (The Ghost of Walter Payton Game)
Devin Hester returning the opening kickoff of Superbowl XLI for a touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts
The “The Bears Are What We Thought They Were!” game in Arizona in the 2006 season
The endless highlight reel that was the flukey 2001 season, including:
A 350-odd pound Keith Traylor returning an interception and trying to find someone …
