So Barack Obama flies off to Copenhagen, Denmark, in order to push Chicago for the 2016 summer games. He’s going to be the first President to do such a thing.
I’ve been noticing that Obama has been doing a lot of “first president to…” things, but they’re not impressive and hardly presidential. For example, he was the first president to appear Al Punto, the Sunday political show on Univision. He’s also the first President to ask every TV network to cancel its fall lineup so he can give …

The ancient Romans were ridiculous (generational translation: “exceedingly excellent”) at engineering; we already know this. The more you learn about ancient Rome, the less you feel all that advanced living in the 21st Century.
Sure, we have iPhones and satellites, but there are some technologies the Romans had which we’ve only matched within the past hundred years or so. Consider that the Romans figured out the following:
Retractable stadium roofs
Indoor plumbing, including toilets that flushed
Heated baths
Concrete not that different from today’s
500-mile a day mailing, not to mention refreshments along …

“President Obama dreams of a world without weapons…but right in front of us two countries are doing the exact opposite.”
-Nicolas Sarkozy, President of France
It seems odd for a conservative to quote the President of France in matters relating to foreign policy, but that’s the state of the world in September, 2009.
To date, I haven’t written much about Iran, even though I think the current nuclear crisis going on there (yeah, it’s a crisis when someone who wants to wipe out an entire country is close to getting nuclear bombs) is …

A recent Forbes article ranks the best states to do business in, and the state I do business in – Wisconsin – is ranked 48th.
Ouch.
The rankings are based on six factors: business costs, labor, regulatory environment, economic climate, growth prospects, and quality of life.
Wisconsin ranked 11th on the quality of life ranking, but is weighed down by two rankings in particular:
45th-ranking for “growth prospects”. According to Forbes, the growth prospects factor “Reflects projected job, income and gross state product growth as well as business openings/closings and venture capital …

As many of you know, I’m very skeptical of animal rights’ activists, particularly since they seem to place killing an animal and killing a human as morally equivalent (right, LLansing?). So I wonder if it’s intentional that liberals advocate policies like nationalized health care so that humans have worse medical care than dogs, or if it’s incidental because they don’t really have any principles.
I bring up the dog thing because Theodore Dalrymple had this to say in the Wall Street Journal:
In the last few years, I have had …

See, this is why you should keep reading BipolarNation.com. Back in June of ‘08 I made an accurate prediction which I will now remind you of.
I was making the point initially because it turned out that a lot of the AIDS awareness stuff was virtually irrelevant for non-homosexuals who didn’t live in Africa. A lot of people were shown to be wrong. But you didn’t hear about it except in one little article some twenty years after the hysteria began.
Using my powerful brain, I immediately noticed a …

Morgan Freeman: I don’t want a black history month. Black history is American history.
Mike Wallace: How are we going to get rid of racism…
Morgan Freeman: Stop talking about it.
If you’re a redhead, and I’m a brunette, there are no preferences that say you should be hired over me, or that you should be admitted to School X over me. But if you’re black, and I’m white, that sometimes happens.
Why?
Guilt over racism has lead to such an overreaction the …

As it turns out, the Hofstra freshman woman named Danmell Ndonye totally made up a story about being gang-raped. You might remember the Duke Lacrosse case that wasn’t much of a case at all, either. Says WCBSTV:
The Nassau County District Attorney is now considering filing charges against the woman behind the rape hoax at Hofstra University.
The college freshman has left the campus, and is believed to be in seclusion at her father’s apartment in upper Manhattan.
18-year-old Danmell Ndonye is believed to be staying with her father in his apartment and …

“Do you care if it falls?”
“What?”
“The Roman Empire.”
“[Bleep] it.”
-Two Roman Soldiers in Mel Brooks’ “History of the World, Part I”
They say you can learn a lot from history, and as a semi-history buff myself, I tend to agree. Ancient Rome is one of the most fascinating subjects to read about. They were so advanced that they had a Senate, indoor plumbing, roads that cut through mountains, and a stadium with a retractable roof. But despite all of their ingenuity, they didn’t survive. Here are 10 lessons to learn from the …

I fixed the economic crisis.
You see, recently, I dug through the old BipolarNation.com Library of Alexandria and wanted to see how I reacted to the crisis. And you know what? I came through with messages of hope, as you can see in my Nov. 11 2008 article “How to Survive Any Economic Crisis.”
Wrote I:
I don’t think today’s economic crisis will turn much worse
And as it turns out, that little bit of confidence was enough to turn this whole thing around. After that point, Americans started producing more, saving more, and, …
