How to Not Hate Your Job

Your job stinks. At least that’s what most of you are saying according to a report that says just 45% of people are satisfied with their jobs. If you’re counting, that’s down from 61.1% in 1987, when this particular survey started.

So what’s up? I’m guessing that with today’s technology, jobs don’t stink any more than they did in 1987, and in all likelihood have gotten better.

As it turns out, the Hofstra freshman woman named Danmell Ndonye totally made up a story about being gang-raped.  You might remember the Duke Lacrosse case that wasn’t much of a case at all, either.  Says WCBSTV:
The Nassau County District Attorney is now considering filing charges against the woman behind the rape hoax at Hofstra University.
The college freshman has left the campus, and is believed to be in seclusion at her father’s apartment in upper Manhattan.
18-year-old Danmell Ndonye is believed to be staying with her father in his apartment and …

There’s a big hubbub this week about the potential missing link – a lemur-like fossil of some creature that existed some 47 million years ago.
James T. Harris has this to say:
OK, check it out. So according scientists, “Ida is linked to humans by the talus bone in her ankle which is the same shape.” They also said, “her opposable big toes and nails, not claws, confirmed she was a primate.”
Eureka! Cousin Ida! Missing link found. Man evolved from apes around 75 million years ago because it’s really hard to pinpoint …

Pope Benedict XVI sparked criticism recently when he said that condoms aren’t the way to fight AIDS, offering the alternative of loyalty in marriage and abstinence as better strategies.
Yahoo News quotes him thusly:
“You can’t resolve it with the distribution of condoms,” the pope told reporters aboard the Alitalia plane heading to Yaounde. “On the contrary, it increases the problem.”
This flies in the face of liberalist dogma that elevates the use of condoms and the practice safe sex to virtue-status.  There are people who think that the problems sex can cause …

I’d say this is one of the worst protests I’ve ever seen, but I know my generation and their need to protest something, even if there’s really nothing.  I think they’re more interested in acceptance from their hippie peers (and their hippie women) than actual change, and that becomes more obvious when they start protesting nothing.
From the NY Daily News:
“We’re not going to take it anymore!” Green yelled. “This is our university! This is unfair and unjust!”
Many of the other NYU students who watched the revolt fizzle said they still …

Pope Benedict XVI recently talked about Catholic politicians when talking to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi:
Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday told U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, a Catholic who supports abortion rights, that Catholic politicians have a duty to protect life “at all stages of its development,” the Vatican said.
Pelosi is the first top Democrat to meet with Benedict since the election of Barack Obama, who won a majority of the Catholic vote despite differences with the Vatican on abortion.
The Vatican released remarks by the pope to …

Today is the kind of day that will prompt people to say, “Wow, I can’t believe it’s already been seven years.”
Well, I can.  When 9/11 happened, I was a senior in high school.  Since then, I’ve gone to college, graduated, worked a full time job, and started BipolarNation.  Heck, I’ve had this site for about two and a half years and I only started it in 2006.
Fortunately, Americans were safe all these years.  Imagine:  seven years since without a major terrorist attack, in this technological age.  No bioterrorism, no more …

Bill Gates is one of the world’s greatest philanthropists – without him, there wouldn’t be the giant Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation – and now he wants people to stop a habit that the WHO predicts will kill a billion people in our century: smoking.
That’s right: both Gates and Michael Bloomberg are spending $500 million to stop people from smoking:
Bill Gates and Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced on Wednesday that they would spend $500 million to stop people around the world from smoking.

This time, most are expected to …

It’s rare enough an airplane has mechanical problems and has to make a special landing.  But the plane that a Presidential candidate is riding on?

FAA spokeswoman Laura …

The Supreme Court ruled today 5-4 that Congress had not validly taken habeas rights from “foreign nationals” held at Guantanamo Bay. The essential effect is that potential terrorists will get treated more like American citizens.
Ugh. It’s a cliche to say that the left is anti-American, but it’s hard to classify this kind of ruling as anything else. Said Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia:
The Nation will live to regret what the Court has done today. I dissent.
Well said.
