Move over, Joe Six-pack! There’s a new political turn of phrase named Joe in town!
If you watched last night’s debate and wondered who Joe the Plumber is, he’s Joe Wurzelbacher from Toledo, Ohio, a man who’s been working 12-hour shifts for a while working toward the dream of buying a small plumbing business.
Of course, the twist is that buying said small plumbing business would put his income in excess of $250,000, at which point Obama’s proposed rich-guy alarm goes off and raises his taxes. Wurzelbacher asked Obama about …

The third Presidential debate is on tonight, and with Wisconsinites encouraging him to, do you think McCain will unleash the dragon and “go there”?
According to McCain, he will:
John McCain said Tuesday that Barack Obama is “probably ensured” that his association with 1960s radical William Ayers will come up in Wednesday’s debate.
“I was astonished to hear him say that he was surprised that I didn’t have the guts” to bring up Ayers, McCain said on KMOX, a St. Louis radio station.
“I think he is probably ensured that it will come up …

Last Thursday, I took advantage of Aurora hospitals’ voter registration drive and made sure I’m properly set up for November.
Unlike a bajillion idiot “undecideds,” I actually have political principles and already know who I’ll be voting for. The problem?
I’m voting in Wisconsin.
You out-of-towners might wonder what’s so wrong about voting in Wisconsin, particularly as it represents a minor swing state. There’s nothing wrong about voting here, and in fact we need more voters like me, because Wisconsin is one of the hotbeds of voter fraud, going back as …

UPDATE: I finally found the video of James Harris:

Yesterday, John McCain and Sarah Palin visited Waukesha, Wisconsin, and the visit made national news because of a few particular (angry, passionate) McCain supporters in the crowd – including local blogger and talk show host, James T. Harris.
At a rally in Waukesha, Wis., on Thursday, James T. Harris, a radio host in Milwaukee who is African American, took the microphone and professed his full support for Sen. McCain’s candidacy. He urged him to talk more about the “shady characters” — naming …

Watching last night’s debate and debate preparations, I actually considered the 2000 Bush vs. Gore town hall debate to be the “golden days.”  That says something about how boring these debates have been.
Where’s the fire?  Where’s the passion?  Where are the principles?  Where are the exchanges?  Where are the awkward moments in which Obama walks up to McCain while McCain makes his point, forcing McCain to give a “howyoudoin” nod to Obama?
Both candidates were unexciting.  I’ll go through each specifically.
Barack Obama:
Barack Obama is the most overrated speaker I can remember.  …

Tonight is Round Two between Barack Obama and John McCain, in a format that should seem to favor McCain:  the town hall.  McCain’s been doing town halls basically all year long, and if there’s a debate where he could really separate himself from Obama, this should be it.
Not that I have high expectations for McCain.  The man who refuses to bring up Rev. Wright hasn’t ever really dominated a debate.  (Not that Obama ever has, either.)
Tonight’s format?  The town hall means the candidates will likely be surrounded by a group …

It’s a strong indication that Sarah Palin won last night’s debate when you flip between Fox News and MSNBC and, for better or worse, both networks were talking about her.
MSNBC?  Calling her a dolt for looking into the camera.
You know what I think of people when they come on “Hardball,” and they look at the camera, I think they’re dolts.
(Of course, Biden started looking more into the camera as the night went on, and Obama looked into it frequently the other night.)
Fox News?  They cut to a Focus Group that …

The first Presidential debate between John McCain and Barack Obama was on Friday, and seemed to pass without much attention thanks to all of the bailout talk.
Who won?  As usual, people generally think that their candidate won.  You could put the Cookie Monster up in one of these debates and Sesame Street fans would think he won because of his constant reference to, and insistence upon spelling, cookies.  I’m including a poll with the Message Board posting of this blog post.
It’s clear neither McCain or Obama had a blowout.  Obama …

Do you think Barack Obama wishes he could have a mulligan with his VP pick?
Joe Biden seemed to be a shrewd pick at first, the kind of guy who could supposedly plug the holes in Barack Obama’s presidential resume – long-time political experience with an emphasis in foreign policy.  Then, Sarah Palin comes along, blows the Biden pick out of the water, and McCain has ignited some of his conservative base.
While Barack Obama was busy filling the holes in his ticket’s resume, McCain was filling the holes in his campaign.
Meanwhile, …

Joe Biden has a way out of America’s economic troubles.  Rich people: pull yourself up by your Gucci bootstraps, get the checkbook ready, and cut a piece of pie for Uncle Sam.
According to Biden, it’s what a patriot would do.
Noting that wealthier Americans would indeed pay more, Biden said: “It’s time to be patriotic … time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.”
Yesterday I said that lefties have weird sacred cows.  They have weird virtues, too:  who ever …
